DESACRALIZATION OF NATURE
2022
Design-research text
For a while now- we have chosen to desacralize the earth through
modern science. We have allowed science to treat matter as dead and
completely separate from ourselves.
Through science we have been taught a lot, but the more we understand about the universe, the less we need to understand about the nature of spirit. The more we know the less we need to believe. As we expanded the realm of the factual we reduced the realm of the
spiritual. The shift in scientific thinking went from science of understanding to science of manipulation. The science of manipulation science which separates - mind from matter, humans from nature, humans from each other, the body from mind and the mind from soul.
We may attempt
to understand nature,
but we did not create it
and neither can we control it.
Aiming for humans to coexist with earth is an
act of spiritual nature.
We need
to be wise, not smart. We need to learn to be humble, not powerful.
To live
sustainably we must be willing to openly proclaim the spirituality of it.
We must
reclaim spiritual roots and the sacred in food,
farming and living. Showing
commitment to honoring the earth and preserving its wealth goes hand in hand with accepting its nourishment and shelter.
We are not only on this earth but are of this earth.
Letting our
awareness and body become one with the earth.
Earth has a lot to
teach us if we are humble
enough to listen. Living in cohabitation with exuberance
of life forms we can learn from the earth's rhythms
and wisdom.
Through humbleness and
honor we can come back together. Stopp fixing,
controlling and manipulating and start listening,
honoring and learning from earth. With renewal of our beliefs,
renewal of our ideas and rethinking of our needs may we respect her, her needs, her boundaries and blessings.
Through rediscovery of old stories, stories that may have
been forgotten but not lost, we can take inspiration from our ancestors and their practices to care for the earth and
all its creatures. We can gather in a community of
oneness with earth in a collective healing
through home gardening and cooking, rituals of dancing
with, singing for and blessing the earth.
